About Buckle Up
The "KIA - Buckle Up" project, by Kia Motors in collaboration with TSL Foundation, is a comprehensive road safety initiative aimed at enhancing awareness and infrastructure in the Delhi-NCR region. Targeting 100 schools, the project combines education and engineering to foster a safer road environment. Through engaging workshops, the project educates 26,000 students from 1st to 8th grade on essential road safety rules and practices. Additionally, live simulation experiences are provided for 5,000 students to practice safe driving. On the infrastructure front, the project strategically installs 750 road crash barriers, traffic signs, lights, and pavement markers to reduce accidents and fatalities. By fostering partnerships with schools, local authorities, and civil society, "KIA - Buckle Up" aims to create sustainable road safety interventions, ensuring long-term benefits for the community.
Project Objectives
1. Raise road safety awareness among school children.
2. Provide practical road safety education through simulation experiences.
3. Improve road safety infrastructure by installing crash barriers, traffic signs, and pavement markers.
4. Foster partnerships between schools, government officials, TSL Foundation, and civil society for sustainable road safety interventions.
Interventions
Year 1 - Education
-
Road Safety Awareness: Conduct 720 workshops in 100 schools, reaching 26,000 students from 1st to 8th grade. These sessions cover essential traffic rules, pedestrian safety, motorcyclist rules, and the importance of seatbelt usage.
-
Simulation Experiences: Provide hands-on learning through 120 simulator workshops for 5,000 students from 1st to 5th grade. These simulations allow students to practice safe driving and riding in a controlled environment
Year 2 - Engineering
-
Road Crash Barriers and Signage: Install 750 road crash barriers, traffic signs, lights, and pavement markers at strategic locations. These physical interventions aim to reduce accidents and improve safety on the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road.
